When I was in Lijiang, I was really surprised that they do not use plastic bag. They charged you for every paper bag that you used. So when I got back to Singapore, I have collected more than 4-5 paper bags of every sizes , coz I kept on forgetting to bring my own shopping bags. hahaha~~
That was way before our "Bring your own bag Wednesday". In 2006. We really should not be complaining about the 10 cents that are charged.
And speaking of playing a part in saving the environment, no one beat Taiwan and Japan. When I was in Taiwan, my Taiwanese friend picked up the pet bottles that we have just threw away , washed it and put it into a separate trash bag so that the collector can recycle them later. We were so embarrassed. =P
Seriously, it is really time for us to be more aware of our environment. Ha, and me included. I wont lie, sometimes I forget to bring my own bag for grocery shopping too. =P Nowadays, I keep a small foldable bag in my bag so that I can use it any time.
For friends that have knew me a long while, would know that I am totally crazy about [ The phantom of the opera ]and "idolize" the Phantom. But strangely, my favorite phantom was neither Boardway version non the latest movie one.
It was an old 1989 movie production. An adapted interpretation of the Boardway classic. The OST was new too. The phantom was acted by Robert Englund. He made his fame by playing Freddy in [A Nightmare On Elm Street] . The very famous horror series. Think that would also made me a freak since I fall in love with his version of the Opera ghost. haha
I have been looking for that version for long time. It neither on YouTube non in any video stores. Today out of the blue , I decided to type Robert Englund into YouTube search. And some angels have finally uploaded some short clips. haha....
Here is one of the clip that featured the song that I loved. The music score was by Misha Segal.
Gosh..... just read in one of the YouTube comment , the song was inspired by " Adagio in G minor". The beautiful melody that has " haunted" me for years has finally got a name.
Black-naped Orioles A small corner of an illustration done for a stamp proposal, a long time ago. The theme was " Bird found in Singapore". Had a hell of time drawing those feathers on the wing . ha
I had a really close encounter with the yellow Black-naped Oriole today. It flown away before I could take a pix of it. =) This was the first time I have seen it so up close. Beautiful bright bird, the size of a Myna. They are really hard to be missed.
There are a pair of "resident" Oriole at my neighbourhood. It always a joy to see them flying from tree to tree. But as always, they are too fast and too far to be captured on cam.
Today, I accompanied my cousin to visit Meow me at her final resting place. Meow Me was mass cremated in Mount Pleasant Hospital and housed in a nice waist height brick structure. The surface was a green planter and its acted like a small memorial place for the pets' owner too. It was sweet. My cousin bought her a new mouse toy. It was one of her favorite. We also decided to bought her 发糕。Cousin caught her trying to eat it a few times. Always the top 4 corners. She was forever trying to taste whatever we are eating. She is not Meow Me but another cat by the name of Mi Mi. Her pix and notes written by her owner caught our attention. So much love.
" So to my beautiful children , I hope one day......you too find yourself life partners, who are as beautifully imperfect, as your father was to me."
Saw the new public awareness campaign of National Family Council on channel five. I was really impressed by the 3 mins long tv campaign. Someone have put time and soul into creating this ad. Well worth a round of applause.
Especially love the part where the wife joked about the deceased snoring. Toward the end of the decease life, the snoring became an indicator that he was still alive. How familiar was that. I remembered a time when I was one of the caretaker to my granny. Towards the last few day, it was the same. Every little breath she took, was an indicator.
I love the " lightheartedness" the director has set for the advert. Its not about the mourning for the decease. It is about the celebration of one life. No crying, all smile. =)
Beautifully imperfect........ How well said, cause we are all imperfect in one way or another but there will be someone out there that will appreciate and fully embraced that imperfectness. Its beautiful.
